002 Night Flight ME514 to the Middle East (2/3)
One very old woman in dirty clothes was on the right side, and a young lady was on the left. There was one little girl between them. The elderly woman looks up at the sky, and her faint profile revealed deep lament. Young lady grabbed the fence with both of her hands. She looked straight ahead of her while trembling her body. She seemed to be shouting something. The little girl squatted down and stared intently at the ground as if she didn’t notice her grandmother who looked up to the sky and mourn nor her mother who screamed over the fence.
A
few dozen meters ahead of them, a tank was standing still with its gun barrel focusing
three women. No Israeli soldiers could see around. They might be watching women
through binocular inside the tank. Between the tank and the fence, it was mine
field. All of three women seemed completely unaware that the cameraman was
taking photos behind them.
The
caption of the photo read; The tragedy still continues after dozens of years of
Nakba - An old mother and her young daughter-in-law who show grief and anger
after their son or husband was killed by Israeli soldiers. And an innocent
child didn’t understand what had happened.
The
Nakba (the catastrophe in English) means the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians
in 1948.
