Part I. Israel bombs a nuclear plant in Iran
Chapter 14. Operation code name ‘South of the Border’ (3)
Everyone
was vaguely aware of the ending of the drama. But everyone wanted to hear from
the prince.
"The
Israeli Air Force is far superior to the Iranian Air Force. Israeli pilots will
surely bomb the target and safely escape from chase." "But
then they find out that the parent bird doesn’t come to pick them up. They
don't have enough fuel to return to their base. What's the fate of the puppies
that gradually weaken when the fuel runs out? Only Allah knows. Inshallah."
Israeli
jets were fallen into their trap. They were going to shout for joy. But no one
laughed at the commander's talk. They realized that Israeli pilots were the
same themselves although they were enemies. Even Israeli pilots had completed
their mission, they could not return to their own base due to lack of fuel. After
wandering over Persian Gulf, they would definitely crash in the desert or the
sea. Saudi pilots couldn't laugh when they imagined the results. It might be a
strange sense of fellowship as pilot.
Prince
Turki closed his eyes with his arms crossed while sitting on a chair. Suddenly,
the telephone bell in front of him echoed in the room. Everyone felt nervous. The
prince picked up the handset. It was from the commander of the Tabuk Air Force
Base. The Tabuk base was located in the northwest of Saudi Arabia and a
strategic air base for the surveillance against Israel. In the base, there were
several airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) systems with
state-of-the-art radar and computers. The commander of the Tabuk base explained
the situation in a hurry.
"At
7:00 am, one Israeli Air Force refueling aircraft and two escort jets are
passing over Jordanian airspace. They will reach the border of the Kingdom and
Iraq within minutes. Altitudes is XX feet. Speed is XX kmh. That’s all."
"roger"
"To
wish the success of the operation."
There
were exchange of short messages between the two commanders.
While
holding the handset, Prince Turki looked at the deputy commander in front of
him. In response, the deputy commander lightly bowed his head. The prince hung
up the handset. He stood up and said;
"Immediately
change to the mode of operation."
Nine
pilots, including the captain of the attack, who were dressed in flight suits, immediately
stood up from their chairs. They saluted the prince and rushed toward the door.
Prince's powerful voice showered on their backs.
"I
left it to you!"
The
pilots went out the room raising their right hand without turn around.
